Parents who volunteer by chaperoning band events or driving the truck will need to get a background check through the school. Directions are at this link.
The Onalaska Band Program depends on volunteers to provide many opportunities to our students.
Chaperones: We depend on Chaperones to make sure that the students are safe and where they need to be. At parades, we use chaperones to provide water and supervise the health of the students on the parade route. At field shows, we depend on chaperones to supervise the bus and to help move equipment from place to place.
Concessions: One of the major sources of financial support for the band program is the fall concessions stand. The boosters provide roughly $350 per student of financial support to the program through various instruments, equipment, and activities.
We are asking every family to sign up for one concessions event. Volunteers will receive a ticket for the fall review concert for each concession event they volunteer for. Concessions are our number one source for funding the marching band program.
Our parents in charge of the concessions stand to invite all parents to stop in at a game to ask questions and find out more about how the concessions stand works at events. Just avoid halftime!
Fall Marching Band and Winterguard Props: We are always looking for parents and students with special skills in woodworking and metals. Our props are often custom-designed specifically for our show by our very own parents. If this is something you are interested in, please contact Mr. Coe.
Photographers/Videographers: Any parent with a camera or phone can help us out in this area. We are very grateful to the numerous parents who send us pictures. If you are at an event and have a video or pictures, please reach out to Mr. Coe for the Google Drive extension to upload your photographs!
